Thank You

I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your loyal, valuable, and steadfast support during the course of this campaign. It was an amazing journey to travel the state and meet with so many great people during the last several months.

While the election outcome was not what my campaign had hoped, there is hope for the future.  The principles of conservatism in our party represent the best hope for our state.  We must continue to fight for the principles which made our country great and the ideas which keep us free. Lenny McAllister Endorses Chad Adams

“Times come throughout cycles within America where we must re-evaluate our approach in upholding our principles. If our approach is not rooted in the firm ground of connectivity, strong enough to weather all storms through sound conservatism,
and standing tall enough for all to see for leadership out of these hard times, the tenets of our party are nothing but structures of beliefs laying at the side of the road of our society, incapable of supporting the American way of life. We are at a point in time where our approach must adjust in order to provide more meaningful connectivity ...<< MORE >>

Chairman of the Dare County Republican Party Endorses Adams!

Dear Fellow Delegates:

The upcoming election of the North Carolina State Republican Chairman is, by all accounts, the most important race in party history.

The future of this Grand Old Party hangs in the balance, as it struggles with two consecutive election losses and the attempt by some to replace the Conservative ideals that have defined our party since the Reagan Revolution with more libertarian views.

It is apparent to this Conservative that the party needs to reenergize its base and create a grassroots campaign that overwhelms the opposition and facilitates the defeat of the Democratic Party throughout the state as well as ...<< MORE >>

Chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party Endorses Adams!

Dear Chad ,

This is an unsolicited personal endorsement for your election to
Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party.
I'm not speaking with any
authority from any group for this endorsement. As the founder of the Western
Wake Republican Club in Cary, current President of the Down East Republican
Club in Washington, and current Chairman of the Beaufort County Republican
Party, I believe that I can justifiability? speak for the grassroots
Republicans of North Carolina. I am grassroots!

We have only met a few times but with that limited contact, I
believe I have met someone who understands and can relate to the average
Republican in North Carolina .
That identity with the average Republican is
something that has been missing for many years in our State Party
leadership.

Although I believe all candidates for State Chairman are sincere
in their efforts
and each one has their own unique qualifications for the
job, I believe your grassroots appeal if what is needed in North Carolina
now.
We have had for many years, leaders who sit in the big house at the top
of the hill. Today, our party needs a leader to stand shoulder to shoulder
with us on the front lines. I think you are that leader.
We can never under
estimate the importance of the job of raising money for our State and
National candidates election efforts. However, in addition to raising money,
it requires motivating the thousands of grassroots individuals that are
necessary if we are to take back our State.

I urge all my fellow delegates to vote for and support Chad
Adams for Chairman, North Carolina Republican Party.

Larry Britt, Chairman
Beaufort County Republican Party

NCGOP 2.0 = Embracing Technology

Dear Fellow Delegates,

Our ability to adapt technology is absolutely critical to our Republican Party's success in the coming election cycles.  Being ahead in the past means nothing if we are behind now.  We must improve.

Having worked as a technology consultant for nearly a decade I can attest to the power of a well implemented plan.  Our party must embrace digital media. Quickly and professionally, we must get our message to the media, Republicans, and voters. Video and podcast feeds can be part of our daily operations at the NCGOP.

Beyond media, we must embrace technologies like Twitter and Facebook, even simple text messaging.  With such easy-to-use technologies, the party can instantaneously alert our executive committee members, auxiliary groups, activists and voters to action alerts, pending legislation, and legislative phone numbers to call.  Consider it a rapid alert system that we should adopt and utilize now.

Creating a 100-county centralized hub accessible via the Internet is a good idea. All counties will be able to instantly update their own info, as well as share ideas with other counties. Statewide calendaring with county input means better communication.

These are just a few of the ideas that we could incorporate quickly into our new North Carolina Republican Party.  We will educate the public on issues daily. We are the party with the best ideas. We are the party whose values win time and time again.  Those values have never been more relevant. We must have the will and the desire to make our party more engaging, interactive, and responsive. We will be more exciting and more communicative than we have ever been!

I ask for your vote on June 13.  Let's embrace the future now. Send me your ideas and input to adamsncgop@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Chad Adams

Republicans Should Elect Republicans - Open vs. Closed Primaries

Dear Fellow Delegates,

In the 90s, both Republicans and Democrats in NC opened their party primaries to Unaffiliated voters. For the GOP, hope was that this move would attract more voters and elect more Republicans.

The unintended consequence?  Unaffiliated voters have become the fastest growing group of voters. In short, a barely active Republican can file for any office, and with the right mix of Unaffiliateds supporting them, would need very few actual Republicans to vote in order to win.

We should close our primaries to Republicans only.  Party identification should matter.  The Republican Party should offer good reasons to BE a Republican. ...<< MORE >>

Christine Mele, Commissioner Pamlico County Endorses Chad Adams

"I heartily endorse Chad Adams for NCGOP Chairman.  As a fellow county commissioner, I have known Chad for many years. He enjoyed respect among his colleagues and provided leadership in his county.  Getting elected locally is a tremendous honor, and we need more young representatives at all levels of our party.  Our state's future depends on the leadership that we choose.  With conservative ideas and timeless principles, Chad is the right leader for the 21st century world that we face."

Dear Republicans,

When Linda Daves announced she would not seek reelection as state party chair, there was some mention of possible candidates to replace her. Among the names mentioned was Chad Adams, who I knew through his work with the Center for Local Innovation.

Among all the candidates listed at the time, I was elated to hear that Adams was considering running for the spot. Here in Rockingham County we have a long entrenched Democratic establishment that controls every municipal board, the school board and the county commissioners. When I first moved to the area in 2002 there was a small group of conservative activist who were focused on reducing the size of the county budget. I knew a few of the men involved and had heard them speak highly of the institutions that had helped them in their fight, namely, Citizens for a Sound Economy and the John Locke Foundation.

I was a back bencher, a lifelong Republican who had never become involved in party operations, but who would contribute time and money to congressional campaigns, since that was where the majority of my interest focused itself.

That all changed in early 2008 when I became aware that the local Democratic establishment intended to advocate for a quarter-cent local sales tax increase by way of a ballot referendum. I just decided that I was not going to sit by and watch the Democrats use their playbook of appealing to emotions to sell a tax increase to provide more money for education.

While this was a non-partisan ballot referendum, locally every elected Democrat began to advocate for the sales tax increase
by claiming "it's for the children" and "it's only a penny on every four dollars".

Faced off against a socially and politically prominent campaign, I knew it would be tough to stand against the wind. But I began to send emails and developed a blog. At first the arguments were simple for me to come up with. But early in the effort, I knew I needed assistance to form a credible message that would appeal to the public.

I asked around and got assistance from one local conservative leader who helped me craft statements and gather talking points. Another local conservative suggested I contact Chad Adams with the Center for Local Innovation. I knew the name because I looked forward to CLI's reports on the Cost of Local

Government each year. I was somewhat hesitant to call, being a nobody from a rural county I figured those folks in Raleigh could care less about what I was doing.

I couldn't have been more wrong. When I called CLI and asked for Chad I was put through to his office, expecting voice mail. Instead Chad answered the phone and was immediately energized to speak with me. Without going into all the details of the conversation, I can say that it encouraged and inspired me to fight even harder to counter the sales tax effort after speaking with Chad. On the spot he gave me input, statistics and perspectives that I used immediately to craft messages that we used in emails, newspaper ads and on the weblog. The 10 minutes we talked on the phone took my effort from fledgling grassroots inertia to thrusting great ideas and counterarguments in front of the public.

My effort was basically a five-week, one-man campaign. I was able to raise $400 from a handful of concerned citizens. We used that money to buy three newspaper ads the week before the May primary. Those ads featured a line which Chad Adams gave me in an email exchange following our initial phone call.

On primary day, I took a stack of the fliers I had printed and spent my lunch hour and two hours after work manning a large polling place. It was clear that our message had been heard and embraced by the majority of voters. Despite huge turnout because of the Democratic presidential contest, we were still able to crush the sales tax, with voters rejecting it 70-30.

Chad Adams inspired me to keep working against what appeared to be a stacked deck. That's what Republicans in many rural counties across the state face, a deck stacked with Democrats in control of local, county and state elected offices. If Chad Adams can inspire me with his energy and talent in a 10 minute phone call, imagine what he can do with a bully pulpit such as the chairmanship of the North Carolina Republican Party.  I am a delegate to the state convention, having attended my county convention in March, at which Chad Adams was our guest speaker. He was already committed to the cause at that time, while some other candidates were still licking their wounds from previous electoral failures.

Please join me in electing Chad Adams as the chairman of the NCGOP. His energy and commitment can lead us to victory.

Sincerely,

Jeff Sykes
